Woman from Nunavik Arrested in Montreal for Drug Trafficking
On January 20, 2021, Jeela Tuglavina, from Kangiqsualujjuaq, was arrested for drug trafficking.
The Équipe régionale mixte du Nunavik proceeded with the arrest of Jeela Tuglavina for drug trafficking in Montreal last week. The woman, originally from Kangiqsualujjuaq, appeared on January 21 and was released with conditions. She is accused of trafficking methamphetamines and cannabis. Packages containing the illegal drugs destined for Kangiqsualujjuaq were intercepted before they could reach their destination.
The Équipe régionale mixte du Nunavik, which is responsible for the arrest of Mrs. Tuglavina, is a new joint investigation team composed of members from the KRPF and the Sûreté du Québec. The team began its activities recently and is leading numerous investigations in the region related to alcohol and drug trafficking. It is a multidisciplinary team with important resources to fight contraband.
