KRPF Officers’ Quick Response Saves Woman’s Life
In Salluit, two officers of the Kativik Regional Police Force (KRPF) rescued a woman from a life threatening situation on March 26, 2019.
Constables Mathieu Verret-Dion and Frederik Grenier were responding to a distress call with very limited information. Using their field experience, the two police officers were able to piece together the partial information that helped them pinpoint the location where the victim, Sarah Ilisituk, was being held against her will. Once located, Ms. Ilisituk who had been stabbed was saved from certain death by the swift intervention of the KRPF officers.
The KRPF officers promptly arrested the aggressor and took him into custody. The suspect has been charged and is awaiting court proceedings. Ms. Ilisituk, who was treated for stabbing and minor injuries, has been released from hospital. “Thank you Fred and Mathieu for saving my life,” Ms. Ilisituk said, knowing that if it were not for the quick response and rapid intervention of the police officers, the worse could have happened to her.
