Homicide in Inukjuak – Suspect Arrested

May 10, 2020

On May 7, 2020, an Inukjuak resident contacted the Kativik Regional Police Force (KRPF) to report the disappearance of a 29-year-old man.

Police officers immediately took steps to locate the individual. Their investigation took them to a residence, where they discovered the body of the missing individual, who showed signs of violence. The death of the man was pronounced on the scene.​​

In accordance with the policies in force, the responsibility for the investigation was transferred to the Sureté du Québec (SQ), which deployed a team of investigators to Inukjuak to investigate the circumstances of the death. The KRPF also dispatched additional police officers to the village to assist the SQ investigators.

Their joint efforts led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with the death of the missing person. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court by phone Monday from Inukjuak to face criminal charges.

The KRPF and the SQ offer their sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the victim and thank the citizens of Inukjuak, who provided the information which led to the arrest of the suspect.
