Drug searches in Inukjuak
During the week of April 10, the Nunavik Integrated Investigation Team conducted searches of single-family homes in Inukjuak. The operation by investigators from the Sûreté du Québec and the Nunavik Police Service was aimed at combating the sale of illegal drugs and alcohol in the community. The police arrested 10 individuals involved in this case. These searches resulted in the seizure of more than 1.5 kg of cannabis resin (hashish), more than 500 grams of cannabis in bulk, and approximately 5 grams of various hard drugs, including cocaine, crack, and GHB. On the financial and material level, investigators confiscated more than $10,000.00 in cash and various equipment used for drug trafficking. The market value of the illicit products confiscated amounts to approximately $83,880.00. Once completed, the files will be submitted to the DPCP (Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions) prosecutor for analysis to determine whether charges will be laid and whether there will be any court appearances.
