2018 KRPF Bike Rally: more participants, more prizes
On Friday, June 8, the KRPF held its annual Bike Rally in Kuujjuaq, the activities starting at noon.
The event kicked off in the parking lot at the Katittavik Centre with the serving of hot dogs, salads and refreshments. Activities included the operation under the supervision of police officers of a pedal go-kart while wearing goggles that simulate alcohol impairment.
Event sponsors and partners donated many prizes, including brand-new bicycles, helmets, bike locks and lifejackets. This year, 57 bikes were drawn, 14 more than the last edition of the Rally.
We could see the smiles in the faces of all those kids, said Benoit Plante, Deputy Chief, Administration, of the KRPF. On Saturday, I saw two kids driving their bikes with their helmets on the boulevard behind the office, it was very nice.
Despite the wind and the cold, most kids participated to the closing event: a bike parade in the streets of Kuujjuaq.
