Nunavik police chief, Jean-Pierre Larose invested with the Order of Merit of the Police Forces medal by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon Governor General of Canada
On Friday April 14, 2023, Hilda Snowball, Chairperson of the Kativik Regional Government, accompanied Chief Larose at the investiture ceremony of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces at Rideau Hall, in Ottawa.
Established in October 2000, the Order of Merit of the Police Forces honours the leadership and exceptional service or distinctive merit displayed by the men and women of the Canadian Police Services, and recognizes their commitment to this country. The primary focus is on exceptional merit, contributions to policing and community development.
“Since becoming Chief in 2018, the Nunavik Police Service (NPS) has entered a new period of growth. Under the leadership of Chief Larose, the NPS has worked with the KRG to bring in more innovative solutions in all areas of public safety. With the development of our new call centre, our emergency services can now respond to incidents faster than ever before. This is just one example of Chief LaRose’s foresight.” Hilda Snowball – Chairperson, Kativik Regional Government
