Child Pornography – Arrest of Predrag Remic
Montreal, December 8, 2017 – The investigation team of the Sûreté du Québec (provincial police) into the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet arrested 29-year-old Predrag Remic on December 6 in relation to child pornography.
The accused appeared in court on Wednesday in Sherbrooke to answer charges of possession, distribution, having access to and making available child pornography. He is also accused of violating a firearms storage regulation under the Firearms Act.
Police conducted a search of the suspect's home and computer equipment was seized for analysis.
The investigation team into the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet comprises investigators of the Sûreté du Québec and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The team is part of the department of specialized investigation projects with the Criminal Investigation Branch. Since the implementation of the Sûreté du Québec's provincial strategy to fight the sexual exploitation of children in 2012, close to 400 arrests have been made. These efforts have identified several hundred victims.
